Who supports us?

Support Resources

In basic terms there are two main ways you can help us: (1.) you can donate (cash, food, goods... etc.) and (2.) you can volunteer (doing projects at the Mission, mentoring clients... etc.).

Donate

For over 83 years, Boulware Mission Inc. has provided customized human services to the Owensboro-Daviess County and surrounding community always striving to meet needs and fill gaps. She is a 501-c-3 able to pass on a Tax Deductible receipt to donors for cash or in-kind contributions.

Cash donations
are always needed. We can't stress this enough. The Mission has bills (electric, water, gas, insurance... etc.) that we just can't pay with a can of green beans. Just like you, we have to have a certain amount of cash to keep going. The Mission needs approximately $1,200.00 daily in order to continue to provide the shelter, programs and services now provided to the homeless.

In addition to the cash donations (that are vital), we also depend on the community for in-kind donations. Just like your family, we have a list of things we constantly need... a weekly "shopping list" that we look to the community to donate. This list includes fresh meat, fresh veggies, cereal, paper towels, toilet paper... and the like. When you do your weekly shopping, you can throw one or two of these items in your cart, and then bring them by the Mission. It's that easy! Here's a list of some the Mission's

Volunteer

Another way you can help is to volunteer. You could organize a 'fund raiser' through your civic organization, church, or other group. You could raise money to purchase something the Mission needs... like washers and dryers, lawn mowers, week eaters, and furniture. You could organize a drive for things the Mission needs like toilet paper and paper towels, bath soap, deodorant, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, over-the-counter medications, plus much, much more. There are many other things that can be collected or purchased for Boulware Mission Inc. as special projects.

Individual and Group Volunteers are also invited to 'adopt' projects that improve the Mission's facilities, or provide programs or services for the clients. Here are a few ideas: Paint a room; wallpaper an area; shampoo carpets; build storage buildings; update the playground equipment; build chairs and tables for the "Client Park"; install a computer lab for clients; landscape the grounds; plant flowers in the window boxes; winterize the vehicles; haul off trash; tutor client students; mentor clients by taking them to church, getting to know them and allowing them to get to know you; or prepare and serve a meal.

You could also encourage civic groups, churches, businesses and others to invite a Boulware Mission speaker to give a talk on homelessness – its causes and cures. Public awareness is a key to ingredient to alleviating - or at least reducing homelessness. And you may have other great ideas! Give us a call (contact information in bottom left hand corner) and lets see how we can work together!
